We are the Episcopal Church

Cople Episcopal Parish is a warm, welcoming parish that worships in different church buildings on Sunday mornings. Each of our buildings of worship have different histories and characteristics, yet at the same time, we are one parish: one in community, one in service, one in celebration of God's good gifts.

We are a historic parish, founded in 1664, and our worship and spirituality are deeply rooted in classic Christianity, and at the same time we are focused on serving those in need and loving one another.

We are an inclusive, community of faith,  living out God's love with each other, our community, and the word through worship, outreach, spiritual formation, and fellowship. We welcome all, without exception.

Our services include readings from the Bible, prayer, a sermon, and music. Our guide for worship is the Book of Common Prayer (Prayer Book for short), which expresses our reverence, values, and what we hold in common. At most Sunday services, we offer the bread and wine of Holy Communion. This is the central event in Episcopal worship, and with Baptism, expresses our belief in God's enduring love and presence in the world.

We generally gather for fellowship and refreshments, what we call Coffee Hour, following the Sunday morning service. Coffee Hour is an important time to meet new people, to greet old friends, to catch up over a cup of coffee, and engage in warm conversation.

On Sunday there is an early 9 am service in Tidwells at St. James Church, followed by a later, 11 am service in the Kinsale area at Yeocomico Church. The third church building, Nomini Church, is located in the Mt. Holly area and is used a few times a year (Christmas, Palm Sunday & Holy Week, 5th Sundays). On these occasions we worship as one gathered church.
